Consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in hip and knee arthroplasty. A 2002 graduate of the University College Cork, he completed his Higher Specialist Surgical Training on the national Irish training scheme winning the Michael Floyd Medal. He was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in UHW and KROH in 2013 and took up the appointment in 2014. He underwent further specialist fellowship training in Philadelphia at Rothman Institute where he learned techniques in minimally-invasive hip and knee replacement surgery, along with advanced techniques in revision surgery. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University College Cork, is actively involved in the Higher Surgical Training scheme, has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, has written over 10 book chapters and is editor of a forthcoming orthopaedic textbook on arthroplasty.
